Abu Dhabi's well-known philanthropist, business women and Principal Extraordinaire Goodwill Ambassador of IIMSAM Sheikha Roda bint Zayed Al Nahyan visited Mukkom Muslim orphanage in Kozhikode, India where H.R,H. laid the foundation stone for an engineering and technology college. The college will be known as Roda Bint Zayed College of Engineering and Technology For Women. Mukkom, is an educationally backward area. The legacy and charity of Al Nahyan royal family is known across the world as they support deprived people. Sheikha Roda is a renowned philanthropist and business women from Al Nahyan family and daughter of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is known as 'father of the nation'.
Mukkom Muslim Orphanage, which was started in 1956 with 22 orphans, has become a reputed name all over India due to its matchless social work. The Twice winner of the National Child Welfare Award, the orphanage today it runs a number of colleges, schools, and other educational institutions for the progress of the society.
H.E. Sheikha Roda and her entourage, around 25 VIPs and officials with H.R.H., toured the orphanage and praised the activities of the orphanage. She also met the staff and other members of the orphanage running committee.
